Andy Bonchonsky has been coaching soccer and running camps for 30 years. He started out as a player and has been involved in soccer for the past 42 years.

Currently, Andy is in his tenth year as the Director of Coaching for the Bay Oaks youth soccer club. He is in charge of developing the coaches and the player development for 25 teams.

During his career, Andy has led teams to championships at the high school, club, and state level. In college he led Cal to a #2 national ranking and the NCAA championships. He has received a number of Coach of the Year honors, and holds a National USSF B coaching license.

Through the years Andy has coached many players that have went on and played on our U.S. National Teams.

Andy's soccer playing career started when he was five until he stopped playing competitively at age 32. His playing career included playing semi-pro for seven years after playing college soccer at UCLA in 1981. UCLA was ranked in the top five during that time. At the high school level he played for a CIF champion where he earned offensive MVP. Currently Andy is still playing in the local men's leagues.


   

TEALE MATTESON (Director of the August 18-22 Camp)

Founder and director of Pacific Soccer Training, Teale has been coaching youth through collegiate soccer for the past 20 years. He played Div I soccer at Cal 1979-1983 on scholarship and later became Cal's Assistant Coach from 1989-90.  He played soccer in Germany and for French Div III Club Bercy in Paris. He has coached  St. Mary’s College High School in Berkeley for 10 years, reaching the NCS playoffs 7 out of those 10 years. He coaches for the ACCYSL Mavericks Girls' U16 and U14 and Boys' U10 and assists the Mavericks' Technical Director, Robert Sackey of the Ghana Men's and Women's National Teams.  He has served as an evaluator for the Olympic Development Program and provided coaches training through the ACCYSL.  Teale holds CYSA certification and NSCAA's National Diploma.  He recently attended a coaching delegation to Holland with coursework at AJAX, PSV Einhoven,  and AZ Alkmaar with current Polish National Team Assistant Coach Frans Hoek.  Teale met his wife, Nanou, at Cal and they have two children, Natasha, 20, and Alexander, 17.  Teale is a school teacher at The Crowden School in Berkeley.
